Behind every seamless escape is a team working quietly—and going Beyond to make it extraordinary.
"From private beachside dinners with fire dances and rare, cult wine pairings, to skiing out your back door onto the slopes, followed by a pasta making lesson with your family and drone show—if you dream it, we can make it happen." - Tara Arnold
Beyond is a family-owned business born from the Arnolds’ passion to travel the world in a way that combines inspiring destinations with world-class service and exquisite private estates, culminating in not just a vacation but an experience beyond imagination.
Tara and Kurt, native Texans, have always shared a passion for travel. Their journey to owning Beyond started in 2016 when they spent seven weeks visiting islands across the Caribbean, initially in search of a place to call their home away from home. They both fell in love with Turks and Caicos and the exclusive Leeward subdivision on Grace Bay. Several visits and many property tours later, Tara insisted she only wanted the abandoned and then dilapidated properties that now feature Sole E Mare and Estate of Grace. Everyone on the Island advised them against that stretch of beach, noting that the properties were impossible to obtain, intertwined with legal obstacles, and owned by a notorious character. Undeterred, Tara spent the following three years piecing together deals to secure the properties and develop the Estate of Grace and Beyond along more than 800 feet of pristine beachfront.
Acquiring over 18 acres in Turks and Caicos was just the start of their development of Beyond and its exclusive estates and experiences. The Arnolds harnessed their experiences traveling to some of the most exclusive villas in the world into obtaining and developing properties in sought-after destinations and offering a level of bespoke service and experiences they initially sought for their family to others. Each awe-inspiring estate has been handpicked by the Arnolds, and their dedicated staff have been meticulously trained to cater to the unique needs of ultra-high-net-worth travelers from across the world.
Tara, Beyond's CEO, is a lawyer by training and a travel enthusiast and hospitality guru at heart. Tara's focus on orchestrating a vacation experience that offers endless possibilities for the most discerning travelers is unmatched and personal. She realizes our most precious resources are family and time. From arrival to departure, her team focuses on seamless experiences that maximize your enjoyment, relaxation, and time with loved ones.
Kurt, a world-renowned trial lawyer and founder of the most prestigious trial firm in the country, Arnold & Itkin LLP, shares Tara's love of immersive and bespoke travel and brings the sporting fun to each Beyond Estate. Whether it's back-bowl heli-skiing, deep sea fishing, swimming with dolphins and whales, paddle boarding, wake surfing, mountain biking, hiking, custom personal training with visiting fitness experts, or golfing, our estates and team are equipped to make sure you and your guests have customized and unlimited access to the fun adventures at each of our locations.
When they aren't exploring the world in search of the next Beyond Estate and Beyond Adventure, Tara and Kurt, along with their two children, Jaxon and Isla, call Houston home. For the Arnolds, family is the centerpiece of Beyond Estates. We excel at providing engaging and unique in-home experiences to keep children of all ages engaged, connected, and entertained!
The Arnolds are active members and supporters of the Houston community and the communities that surround each Beyond Estate. They support causes individually and through The Kurt & Tara Arnold Family Foundation and The Arnold & Itkin Foundation.
Nick Mastrascusa is an award-winning chef and sommelier whose culinary career has spanned more than two decades in some of the world’s most celebrated luxury hotels, private clubs, and resorts. Most recently, he served as Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage at Discovery Land’s Kūkiʻo Golf and Beach Club on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, where he oversaw three restaurants, an exclusive wine program, and a culinary vision rooted in sophistication, soul, and a sense of place.
Educated at Johnson & Wales University in Miami and later at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, Nick honed his craft under the rigorous standards of luxury hospitality. His early years at the iconic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, gave him both the technical foundation and the leadership acumen to thrive. By 2005, he had risen to Executive Banquet Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach, where his team earned the distinction of Best Banquet Chef Ritz-Carlton Worldwide—a recognition that cemented his reputation as a culinary leader.
Chef Joey brings his blend of fine-dining pedigree with his Southern roots and love for the grill to guests at the Beyond villas as he creates bespoke menus and experiences for each property's guests.
Joey discovered his love for cooking as a latchkey kid in Southern California, where weekends meant grilling with his family. By middle school, he was already cooking for friends and neighbors, often serving as his father’s “sous chef.”
A football scholarship brought Chavez to Texas, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and a culinary degree from Lamar University while working his way through kitchens—from Pappadeaux to Koi Sushi Bar and then La Truffe Sauvage, where he received his first true fine-dining training. Mentored by Ritz-Carlton veterans, he was encouraged to apply to the international hotel chain, eventually joining Wolfgang Puck’s Spago at the Ritz-Carlton Beaver Creek in 2011. There, he worked his way up from sushi line to sous chef, sharpening his skills in butchery and whole-animal cooking.
Chavez went on to stage at Michelin-starred icons including Le Bernardin, Per Se, 11 Madison Park, Nomad, Masa, and JF Restaurants before joining Thomas Keller’s team at The French Laundry and Bouchon in 2015. He calls that year the highlight of his career—where he learned discipline, humility, and what it takes to be the best cook in the kitchen.
From there, Chavez became chef de cuisine at OTD (Slanted Door Group) in San Francisco, then at Aspen’s legendary Caribou Club, before serving as executive chef at The Bygone in the Four Seasons Baltimore. At The Bygone, he led a forty-person kitchen, crafted seasonal menus, and earned recognition as Best New Chef in The Baltimore Sun and Best Dish at Farm to Chef Maryland. In 2020, he made his national TV debut on Food Network’s Chopped (“High on the Hog”). Following that, he was named executive chef of Brennan’s of Houston, where he immersed himself in Creole and Cajun traditions while elevating Texas’ rich local ingredients.
Joey's warm and engaging personality along with his passion for food and experience working with young children in the kitchen, elevate meals to family experiences that memories are made of.
